The certificate issued on successful completion is recognized in BC, SK, MB, ON, and NS as meeting the requirements of the Provincial food premises regulations. In BC, every operator of a food service establishment, and at least one employee on every shift, must hold a FoodSafe Level 1 or equivalent certificate.
What is a Foodsafe Level 1 refresher course??
FOODSAFE Level 1 Refresher A short refresher course designed for people who already have their FOODSAFE Level 1 certificate and would like to renew it. The course covers key safe food handling information including the causes of food-borne illness, receiving and storing food, serving food and cleaning and sanitizing.
What is the BC food safety program??
It is managed by the BC FOODSAFE Secretariat in cooperation with the BC Centre for Disease Control (BC CDC), Regional Health Authorities, and industry associations. Our food safety certification is recognized by the BC CDC as equivalent to FOODSAFE level 1.
